Found as butterflies in Toronto Canada the third week of September in 1997, about a week later in Clinton, Illinois, which is south of Chicago in the middle of the state, and about a month later (i.e. the end of October) in Cocoa, Florida. All specimens of a given gender appear identical to casual observation. Note the enlarged vein spots on the top of the hindwings of the male and the relatively thicker veins on the female.
Some specimens were obtained from eggs laid on the milkweed, curassavica, in Florida and subsequently raised to maturity.

The wingspan of the male was 102 mm / 4 inches; the
female was 93.5 mm / 3.7 inches.
